Pumpkins
While Wiley is screaming in his bed, not wanting to nap, I will post these pictures to remind myself that at times he can be sweet. and creative, too. enjoy.

Wil's Birthday
Here are a few pictures from Wil's birthday. We had a lot of fun not only as a family, but with Taylor, Liz, Andrew, and of course Wake friends. Taylor and Liz got to experience a Wake football game (they say that they are taking Wake's first down cheer back to Bryant-Denny) and Andrew surprised us coming down on Friday. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Things that Wiley is Thankful for...
When Wiley and I were saying our prayers tonight, he had some interesting things to share with Jesus...Some nights I will say something and he repeats it. We usually start with Dear Jesus, Thank you for today. I am thankful for...
Well, tonight here is a run down of what he was thankful for, in as close to the actual order as I can remember.
Tot Lot
Poop
Dad
...and he continues to list his grandparents, aunts, uncles.
Yes. He was thankful for poop. After being thankful for the tot lot.
Let me give my explanation for Wiley's train of thought...Today, he and Wil went to the Tot Lot (playground). Shortly after arriving, Wiley pooped. He is somewhat starting to potty train, so is very aware of tee-tee and poo-poo. Wil and Wiley have to come home to change the diaper before picking me up at school. It was all he could talk about in the car when I got him. So, poop is obviously on his mind, and of course something to be thankful for.
Observation (maybe you caught this):
Things Wiley is thankful for include poop and tot lot. Things Wiley does not say he is thankful for include Mom. Hah!

Brad Paisley

I'm not really into music. But here is one fellow I can get excited about. Not to mention that Wil loves this guy too. Supposedly he is one of the best guitarists in country music, which is pretty sweet. I think that what Wil and I like so much about him is his lyrics. Country tends to be a little bit hokey, but these lyrics are flat out funny.
A sampling...
"I'm Gonna Miss Her"
Well I love her
But I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
But today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon
Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
Right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
Yea I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite, Alright
Ticks
'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight
I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
And I'd like to check you for ticks.
I'm Still a Guy (Wil's favorite song...I think it might be his mantra)
When you see a deer
You see Bambi
And I see antlers up on the wall
When you see a lake
You think picnics
And I see a large mouth up under that log
You’re probably thinkin' that you’re gonna change me
In some ways well, maybe you might
Scrub me down, dress me up
Oh, but no matter what
Remember, I’m still a guy
I was watching the CMT station yesterday and saw him sing this with Hank Jr. Maybe that is why I'm all hyped up on Brad Paisley today. Or maybe it is because last year his wife (Kimberly Williams Paisley a.k.a. the daughter on Father of the Bride) was announcing an award at the CMAs and when talking about the Ticks tour with maybe Carrie Underwood or Julianne Hough (some good-lookin' blonde) referred to the tour as the "You'd Better Not Check Her for Ticks" Tour. Clever lady.

Coupons
I've tried to "steal" from CVS with Extra Care Bucks and coupons. I call that attempt unsuccessful. I walked away from CVS with 2 ECBs and $30 worth of stuff...granted I was buying diapers.
But now I think I have found something I can do: Coupons for the grocery store.
I buy the paper from one of the guys at 5 points in Winston, which helps those guys out b/c they always seem like they have a ton of papers to sell, and I rarely see anyone stop. I sadly do not read the paper, but skip right to the coupons. Hey, you can't do it all...I pull out the SmartSource-like things, and any other stores I think might have stuff I would need (Target etc). Then pull out the scissors. I am trying to only clip coupons for things I know I will use/eat. I have quite a few for cleaning products and upon trying the clean the apartment this weekend, realized that I need to use those b/c we don't have a lot of cleaning supplies! I hear the dollar store has good deals + coupons...ahh.
Harris Teeter will double any coupon up to 99 cents. Which I think is good because a lot of coupons are 40 cents or 55 cents off something which doesn't seem like anything. Last week, all three of us shopped at HT, equipped with a list and corresponding coupons. Savings for that day? $10
It may not seem like much, but it sure sounds better than $2 ECBs.

Just a little update on the little man...
A Few Wiley-isms....
-when asked a question: "Umm,let's seeeee"
-when Daddy hugs Mommy: "Stop it, STOP IT, STOOOP ITTT! GO COOK! [pointing at kitchen]" (all this is directed at Wil, mind you)
-when someone does something he is not liking: grrr [low, throat growl]preceding the inevitable pounce attack.
-when given a flashlight: "Open up your mouth"
-when being talked to and he agrees with what is being said: "mm uh-huh"
-when he is scolded or disciplined: "go night, night...I want to go night night."
-when he eats something yummy: "mmm, zat good."
-when he says he loves you: "i ove you"
precious boy...
